Bong Gets a New County Education Officer

GBARNGA, Bong – The Ministry of Education has appointed Samuel Y. Koenig as county education officer for Bong. His appointment takes immediate effect.

He replaces Edward Kpulun who was dismissed in March of this year for “financial malpractices and poorly administering the office of the CEO of Bong County.”

According to his appointment letter dated October 26, 2016, Koenig was appointed based on his “qualification, years of experience, and performance” while acting as county education officer for Bong following the dismissal of Kpulun.

The letter further calls on Koenig to collaborate with other stakeholders in education to further improve the Bong County School System.

“It is expected that you will perform your duty with high degree of dedication, commitment, and professionalism in the discharge of your duties,” the letter read.

Prior to his appointment as acting CEO, Koenig served as district education officer for Salala School District in Bong.

Koenig will supervise Bong’s eight education districts and report to the deputy minister for instruction at the Ministry of Education, Romelle A. Horton.
