Keith Nah Keeps Scoring

Keith Nah may have gone unnoticed by Lonestar’s technical staff, but the 23-year-old striker relentlessly continues to hit the back of the net for his Yadanarbon club.

Nah was again on target as Yadanarbon concluded the first phase of the Myanmar National League with a 3-2 win over rival Yangon United on Saturday, April 2 at the Bahtoo Stadium.

After a full 90 minutes of fireworks from both teams, Yangon had to bow to Yadanarbon, which collected 29 points from 11 league matches.

Playing at home, Yadanarbon kicked off the match on a poor note and was trailing only nine minutes into the first half. Things got worse for Yadanarbon in the 23rd minute when Yangon doubled its lead .

After conceding two early goals, Yadanarbon took control of the match but was unable to score as early as needed. However, Myo Ko Tun scored with a close range shot three minutes before the first half ended to put Yadanarbon back into the match, a goal that brought back the hopes of at least drawing the game. The score remained 2-1 for Yangon as both teams went for the halftime break.

Yadanarbon came back as the stronger side in the second half as its players kept mounting pressure on their visitors and leveled the score in the 50th through Nah, who scored from the penalty spot.

With the score at 2-2, Yangon lost focus and allowed Yadanarbon to control much of the proceedings in the second half.

Just nine minutes after leveling the score, Yadanarbon took the lead for the first time in the match, through Burmese midfielder, Win Naing Soe, who made the score 3-2.

Nah’s goal against Yangon United made it his tenth from eleven matches as Yadanarbon extended its lead on top of the Myanmar National League by eight points.

He remains the league’s leading goal scorer and on the way to winning his first league title, an achievement that he says will be a dream come true in his footballing career.

“To be honest, I will be happy to finish the league as the top scorer and to win the league title at the same time. Certainly, it will be a dream come true,” Nah said. “It’s every footballer dream to achieve such, and I’m no different. I think all we need to do as a team, is to keep working harder, and we might get the results we need.”
