News about Liberia from different sources –  New Efforts in Liberia: launching of five year plan to combat human trafficking, anticipated Liberian government and WAE collaboration focuses on stimulating the Liberian economy, Ebola prevents the repatriation of about 38,000 Ivorian refugees and more.. 

  • The Minister of Labor, Cllr. F. Juah Lawson, has announced the launch of a five-year National Action in the fight against the trafficking of Human Beings within the Republic. […] this National Action Plan against human trafficking represents an illustration of commitment on the part of Government to match other prior actions it had taken in meeting basic national benchmarks and international obligations in the campaign against TIP in Liberia.[..]look forward to a safe and secured global environment in which the dignity of the world’s women and children/ vulnerables would be respected and protected.”(Heritage)
  • WAE, which is a multi-billion company,  is of the anticipation that given Liberia and Guinea’s long historic and cultural ties, it looks forward to working with the Government of Liberia to further stimulate a critical public-private partnership for the social and economic advancement of the two peoples and countries (Heritage) 
  • More than 150,000 Ivorian refugees who fled to Liberia during post-election violence have returned home, but closed borders due to the Ebola outbreak has left the remaining 38,000 unable to go back. (IRIN)
  •  Operation Blessing helps children who have been orphaned by the Ebola outbreak in Monrovia, Liberia. The charity is providing meals, school supplies and scholarships to 171 children, according to a news release. Officials hope to increase the number to 300 in the coming weeks.(HamptonRoads)
