MONROVIA, Montserrado – The senior side Barrack Young Controllers Football Club has made further addition to their attacking force ahead of the new league season with the promotion of striker, Robert Taylor.
The senior Go Blue Boys made the move to promote the young striker following his splendid performances with the junior team during last season and during the ongoing preseason.
He was promoted to the senior team at the club’s home ground, the Blue Field, after both clubs had conducted their training sessions. In a mini-ceremony after the sessions, Taylor was taken from the junior team and brought to the senior team by BYC I’s vice captain, Prince Jetoh, who presented him to the rest of the squad.
In tears, the young striker greeted his new teammates as he bid farewell to his former teammates. He’s expected to be given the number 14 as he takes on his new challenge.
Taylor became the second player to be promoted to the senior side in the ongoing preseason, behind Kweku Mensah, who was promoted in December 2017.
Taylor joined the junior side of BYC before the start of the 2016-17 season. He was signed from then third division team PAGS Football Club that is now in the second division. He was spotted by BYC while playing the 2016-17 Liberia National County Meet for Gbarpolu. Since he joined the club, he’s been impressive with his fine goal scoring form that helped BYC’s junior team to win the 2016-17 Second Division League.
Taylor was glad for the opportunity given him by the club to showcase his talents at the top level. Speaking to the media after his promotion, he promised to give his best to help the club.
“I’m happy for the opportunity given me by the technical staff and the entire management of the club,” he said. “I am happy to be here because it is my dream to challenge at the highest level. I am ready to fight to make an impact.”
