Internal Affairs Minister Begins Tour of Several Counties

MONROVIA, Montserrado – Varney A. Sirleaf, minister of internal affairs, will begin an eight-day tour of several counties today, Monday, July 16 to acquaint himself with the new leaders of the various counties and its citizens.

Emmanuel Wheinyue, communications officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said the first phase of Sirleaf’s tour will take him to seven counties, including Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Margibi, Nimba, Grand Bassa, Bong, and Montserrado.

“The minister will also inspect government’s ongoing developmental projects in the counties,” Wheinyue added.

As part of the tour, Wheinyue said Sirleaf will also promote the government’s Pro-Poor Agenda to local leaders and encourage them to sustain the peace in the country.

Sirleaf’s will end his tour on July 23. Since his appointment by President George Weah, this is his first nationwide tour.
