International Break Won’t Stop Us

Myanmar-based striker Keith Nah says that the FIFA international break will not interrupt his club’s recent high performance as they look set to finish on top of the Myanmar National League at the end of the league’s first phase.

Yadanarbon is seated at the top of the league table with 26 points from ten matches. The team has won eight of those games and has secured two draws, scoring 22 goals and conceding only six times.

“We are looking forward to resuming the league. We ended on a good run and want to continue doing so. We have to make sure that we finish strong as a team,” Nah told The Bush Chicken.

Six of Nah’s teammates were invited to represent Myanmar’s national team. His striking partner, Aung Thu, on Tuesday helped Myanmar secure a point away at Lebanon with his 73rd-minute goal.

Nah feels his teammates have been a driving force in Yadanarbon. “Look, my teammates have been displaying great football recently,” he said. “We have won a lot of games because of all the players on the team. From the national league, they are now with the national team performing better. With all these factors taken into consideration we will do best by going all the way in the league and in other competitions.”

The league will resume on April 2nd as clubs will be playing their final games of the first phase.

Yadanarbon will play a derby match against four-time league time league champions, Yangon United. Yangon sits fourth on the league table with 16 points and Keith said it would be a difficult match, but one where he expects his team to win.

“Around the world, we all know how a derby game is like. Yangon is a good team,” Nah said. “They have won the league title on four different occasions, and we know they will put out a strong fight. It will be a game with a lot of hard work, but I expect my team to get a win. We’ve been playing better this season, and we will continue that form against Yangon.”

Keith has scored nine league goals from ten matches and currently sits on top of the league’s goal scoring chart.
