Police Arrest Nine Persons During Special Operations in Buchanan

BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa – Police in Grand Bassa have arrested nine persons for a variety of offenses ranging from loitering to criminal attempts to commit theft. Police made the arrests during special operations in Buchanan on Saturday, August 8.

The nine persons were arrested in separate areas and included Effort David, Sam Johnson, Archieve Barcord, and Armah David. Others are Abraham Lloyd, Graway Dennis, Prince Kilby, Kojo Mensah, and Francis Steward.

Effort David, a 22-year-old woman, was arrested in the Corn Farm community with marijuana worth L$30,000 (US$194.80). David was charged for illegal possession of narcotic substance by police and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency detachment in Buchanan. She was accompanied by a man believed to be her boyfriend, only identified as Jacob. Police say they are still searching for Jacob, who escaped.

The same night, 36-year-old Sam Johnson was arrested along with 19-year-old Archieve Barcord and 22-year-old Armah David at the Monrovia Junction in Buchanan. Police say the men were attempting to rob a business center. All three were charged with criminal attempt to commit theft and loitering. They were turned over to the Buchanan Magisterial Court on Monday.

Four of the remaining suspects were arrested at the Blaygbar Ghetto and were charged with drug incapacitation. The remaining suspect was arrested on Kilby Street for loitering.
