Wleh Joins Malaysia Super League Club Selangor

Liberian international striker Patrick “Ronaldinho” Wleh has joined the Malaysia Super League club Selangor FA on a year loan from Malaysia Premier League team PKNS FC.

The deal was made for an undisclosed fee.

Wleh was a key player for PKNS last season, helping PKNS to a fourth place finish on the 12-team roster.

After a three-month suspension for violent conduct in a league match in February 2015, he returned to score five goals in 10 matches as PKNS missed the Super League promotion playoff by one spot.

In the recent Malaysia Cup, he netted two goals and provided nine assists as PKNS qualified for the quarterfinals before losing to Kedah.

Wleh stole the headlines in July 2015 when he scored for the Malaysian All-star team in a 1-1 draw against English Premier League giant Liverpool in a friendly at the National Stadium.

Following his move to Selangor on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, he told The Bush Chicken that he was ready prove his worth.

“I’m really happy today. It’s a feeling I can’t hide. Selangor is a very big team here in Malaysia, and many great players here want to play for the team,” Wleh said. “I was brought here to score, and I must make the staff and the fans happy. With PKNS and the Malaysia All-Star team, I showed I’m a top player here, but I still have to do more if I’m to succeed with Selangor.”

In 2012, Wleh moved to Malaysian Premier League outfit Sime Darby Football Club. In his first season with Sime Darby, Wleh scored a total of 13 league goals, making him the only Sime Darby player to reach such tally in a single season. However, Croatian striker Karlo Primorac broke the record the following season by netting in 24 times for Sime Darby.

Wleh spent a single season with Sime Darby before moving to then-Super League side PKNS Football Club in 2013. During his first season at PKNS, he netted 14 league goals as he missed the chance to win the Golden Boot to Marlon Alex James, who scored 15 league goals.

At the end of the 2014 season, Wleh scored seven times for PKNS as they finish 11th on a 12-team table and were relegated to the Malaysia Premier League.

Selangor FA is a Malaysian football club which represents the state of Selangor Darul Ehsan. The team plays its home matches at the Shah Alam Stadium.

In terms of overall titles won, Selangor FA is the most successful club in Malaysia. Domestically, Selangor FA won a record 33 Malaysia Cups, seven Malaysia Super League titles, two Malaysia Premier League titles, seven Football Association of Malaysia League titles, five Football Association Cups, eight Charity Cups, four Malaysia President Cups, and two Malaysia Youth League titles.
