After Snag With Transfer Documents, Abu Kamara Debuts at Feronikeli

Liberian striker Abu Kamara kickstarted his professional soccer career in Europe on Sunday, March 5th when his new club FK Feronikeli played away at KF Drita Gilan in round 19 of the 2016-17 Kosovo Super League.

Kamara joined Feronikeli on a three-year deal last month but was delayed in making his debut due to the late arrival of his International Transfer Certificate. He missed out the club’s 5-1 thrashing of Trepca Mitrovice on Feb. 25 and was on the verge of getting his contract terminated due to the delay of the vital document.

Instead of making a formal request to Laos, where Kamara last played, Feronikeli had made the request to the LFA, an issue that stirred some controversy. The LFA, via its logistics officer Sebastian Collins, told The Bush Chicken that it was not responsible for the delay of the ITC and that Feronikeli was supposed to have made the request to the club Kamara last played for.

However, the matter was resolved after his parent club in Laos, Champasak United, sent the ITC, making Kamara officially eligible to play for Ferronikeli. He immediately made the list of the first eleven in his the game against KF Drita.

The former Black Star FC striker played 70 minutes as his side got a narrow 1-0 win. Milicaj Mark scored in the 90th minute to give Feronikeli three points away from home.  The victory takes Feronikeli to third place on the league table with 39 points from 19 games, six points behind league leaders, Trepca 89. Kamara will go in search of his first European league goal on Wednesday, March 8th when Feronikeli hosts fourth-place team, Llpi Podujeve.
