MONROVIA, Montserrado – Liberia’s football season has ended but clubs are gearing up for the upcoming campaign with moves to close big signings to beef up their squad.
Big spender Barrack Young Controller, already linked to some of the league’s best players, appears to have plans to bring in foreign players.
In the meantime, the Go Blue Boys have announced an upcoming award ceremony for its exceptional and hard-working players. Those players helped the club finish second with 35 points this past season, five less than league champions LISCR FC.
Via its official Facebook page, an announcement was made of the award ceremony that will cover both the junior and senior teams – BYC I of the first division and BYC II of the second division.
According to the release, the ceremony will cover three categories: the Most Valuable Player, the Iron Man, and the Rookie of the year.
The MVP will be awarded to the player that performed exceptionally during the season, while the Iron Man award is for the most consistent and in-form player, and the Rookie of the Year will be awarded to the player who performed best in his first year at the club.
According to the release by the Go Blue Boys, the awards program will serve as additional motivation for the entire squad for the upcoming season. Winners will be determined by a voting carried out by the BYC management.
The venue is still unknown but the club has requested that the event is kept private and only for the players and staff of BYC Football Club.
